Hi Tina, thanks! But remember I'm living in Co Kildare now, where the wind tends to keep a far lower profile than in the North west! (from what i remember anyhow).

A fabulous start John! How are you with those Northern Irish winds and the microphone? It's so sensitive it seems to magnify the wind.

You've certainly done very well - good luck with the mapping sessions.

Hi John,
I love reading about others journeys with Cochlear Implants. I have been writing a blog since my triplets were born and I have journaled about my son's journey to hearing and all his progress. He just celebreated his 4 year hearing anniversary and he is 5 years old. Thanks for sharing your blog on Hearingjourney.com.
I recorded my sons activation and have watched it many times. It makes me cry every time. He had an amazing activation. He kept signing of more sound!
Best of luck with your activation.
What part of Ireland are you? My mother in law and her family are from Donegal. We have been there 5 times now (i think) I have been to almost every county at this point!

Ohhh your activation is one day after mine - we're going to be activation buddies! Although this is my 2nd activation. I remember I was so nervous. Excited too. But mainly nervous, and hoping the damn thing would actually work! Story here: http://funnyoldlife.wordpress.com/2010/03/24/spectacles-testicles-wallet-and-watch/

I'm hoping to record this activation too, if I can locate my camcorder. This time, I'm just plain excited :)

Best of luck, John!

"There are no up-to-date estimates of the average cost of a wedding in Ireland, but most industry experts still pitch the figure at between €20k and €25k."

You must have missed the press release that we sent to the newsdesk of the Irish Independent a few weeks ago.

Here are details of the survey that we at mrs2be.ie conducted with over 1200 brides just a few weeks ago: http://www.mrs2be.ie/news/irish-wedding-survey-2011-results.html

best regards

It's regrettable that all media outlets in Ireland produce this lazy and inaccurate reportage of data roaming in the EU. The wholesale cap reduces what our networks pay the local network for each megabyte of data to 80 cent currently and to 50 cent next July. Yet our networks still get to charge ridiculous prices of between 5 and 10 euro per megabyte to their customers. The 60eur cap on customers' bills just limits this profiteering to 60eur per customer. There is nothing good in the EU caps for data users in contrast to the forced reduction in call and text roaming pricing. It angers me to see such laziness on the part of all who speak on this issue in the public domain, especially from such reputable outlets as the Irish Times. Even the Irish Independent should know better. I refuse to be charged ten euro by my mobile network per mb of data used abroad, such a rate would have me being fleeced for 2,500eur for just average data use abroad! Buying a sim card from local operators has cost me 15 or 20eur in Belgium and Italy. John, if you wrote the above article I can't understand how this ridiculous gouging could go totally under the radar.
